A blood witch is a man or woman who is born with the power to effect change by magickal means ("Witchcraft").
In Wicca and other similar forms of modern Neopagan beliefs, a coven is a community or gathering of witches, a group of believers who gather together for ceremonies of worship, such as Drawing Down the Moon or celebrating the Sabbats.
Humans who are genetically born with magickal powers are called " blood witches". According to Cal Blair, blood witches are more powerful than non-blood witches because they are more attuned with the elements of the Earth and the forces of Mother Nature.
After several centuries of practicing magick independently, the Seven Great Clans of Wicca united to form a single domain of witchcraft. However, a war emerged between the Clans which continued for a thousand years. Around the era of the Burning Times, a mysterious cataclysm killed 95% of the witches. The surviving members of the Clans fell into a Dark Age, in which they continued their lineage by marrying other Clan members.
